Weekly Scripture
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Psalm 46:1
WHAT WE BELIEVE
BASED ON THE SCRIPTURES
The Church of God in Christ Jesus, Apostolic are numerous churches that are bound together in love to build a better organization. COGICJA accepts the Word of God as taught and revealed by the Holy Ghost as its Doctrine, Creed, Discipline, and Rules of Order. Joel 2:28-32; Acts 2:37-47; Acts 10:33-48; Acts 19:1-6; I Corinthians 2:9-13. We believe that Jesus was both human and divine; creator and creature; God manifested in the flesh, the only person of the God Head; the Eternal Father made visible; apart from whom there is no God. Matthew 1:21, 25; St. John 5:43; St. John 14:26.
God's Standard for Salvation
We sincerely and earnestly contend for God's standard of salvation. In the Word of God we can find nothing short of a Holy Ghost filled life with signs following as on the day of Pentecost. Mark 16:16-17; Acts 2:4-8; 14-17; 9:17-18; 10:44-48; 19;1-6. Also Romans 12:1-2; Hebrews 12:14; Matthew 5:48; I Peter 1:15-16.
Repentance and Remission of Sins
The only grounds upon which God will accept a sinner is genuine repentance from the heart for the sin that he has committed. “…a broken and contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.” Psalms 51:17. John preached repentance, Jesus proclaimed it, and before His ascension, commanded that “… repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His Name among all Nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” Luke 24:47. Peter fulfilled this command on the Day of Pentecost when he set forth once and for all, the only way of entrance into the “Church of God,” that is, through repentance, and water baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus. Acts 2:38-39.
Women Preachers
We know that it is the will of the Lord for women to preach. When Paul stated in I Timothy 2:12-14; “But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence...” He was referring to the home. Read history. And if you continue to read on it states, “…if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.” So this salvation can come to those (whomever) will continue. Yes Eve was in the transgression but thank God he washed the Adamic curse from women once they are baptized in the name of Jesus. Even in I Corinthians 14:34-35 we find these words: “Let your women keep silence in the churches…” Now if you read this scripture, again it states about home issues (ask their husbands at home). At this time women were bringing household issues into the church. Iwas worship time not women time. Now look at verse 36: “What? Came the word of God out from you? Or came it unto you only?” No! To whomever: FEMALE OR MALE! Let’s read the scripture. Now look at it logically: There are female teachers in the school system, female politicians, female instructors, and etc who are teaching males. So are we going to pull our children from the schools or have males that are going to further their education in colleges, universities because there are female professors who are teaching men? Is that really usurping authority over the man? No! As Galatians 3:28 says (still Paul teaching) “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are ALL one in Christ Jesus. And when the WORD is being preached, it’s JESUS, not me, not you, not male, not female, It is JESUS CHRIST – death, burial and resurrection – WE PREACH THE MYSTERY!!!!
With our Presiding Bishop, Bishop William J. Faison and our Chairman of the Governing Board, Bishop William S. Barnes, Jr. we are on the move for God in converting the souls, preaching, and teaching in season and out of season, and having a progressive outreach ministry.
